Dear Donor/Friend,
Expanding Education Horizons in Guyana Inc. (EEHG) is a not-for-profit organization created by Guyanese residing inside and outside of Guyana, with a mission to
raise the performance of secondary school students and early school leavers in Guyana at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC - previously known as CXC or GCE O'level) examinations through funding and providing free after-school instruction (‘lessons’).

Contributions from Guyanese and non-Guyanese have been instrumental in our progress over the first 18 months of operation, during which we enrolled 64 students, hired a dedicated team of teachers, and managed our finances effectively. (For more on our operations, please visit the 'About' page of this website, and review the presentation below from our second Annual General Meeting held in March 2025).

We are pleased to now provide a report on the performance of our EEHG students at the June 2025 sitting of the CSEC exam.
The results demonstrate a strong performance, particularly in English A. All 35 of our students who took the English A exam achieved a passing grade. This is a significant accomplishment, especially when compared to the national average of 71%.
-
English A:
-
Grade I: 46% of students achieved the highest passing grade.
-
Grade II: 28% received a Grade II pass.
-
Grade III: 26% received a Grade III pass.
-

While our Mathematics results show an area for growth, our students still performed above the national average. Of the 16 students who wrote the mathematics examination, 37% received passing grades. The national average for Mathematics was 32%.
-
Mathematics:
-
Grade II: 6% of students received a Grade II pass.
-
Grade III: 31% received a Grade III pass.
-
Looking Ahead
Our results are a testament to the hard work of our students and teachers, both in the school system and in our program, parents and your generous support. While we are proud to have surpassed the national averages in both English and Mathematics, we remain committed to our goal of achieving passes in all subjects.

We are excited about the future and look forward to your continued partnership in helping our students achieve their full academic potential. While students are given free lessons, funds are needed to pay teachers, support the use of and training in technology, and the provision of and maintenance of learning facilities.
